Frequently Asked Questions

In terms of convenience, it is worth noting the systems that allow you to transfer money online, using Polish and crediting to a bank card. TransferGo allows you to make transfers for free, but at the cost of time. Paysend, on the other hand, offers instant transfers for a fixed fee. Both systems offer bonuses in the form of referral programs. In turn, TransferWise bets on multi-currency and is more suitable for freelancers whose counterparties are located in different countries of the world.

The giants Western Union and MoneyGram continue to bet on customers from the offline world who prefer to deal with cash. Speed wins here. You can receive money in a bank branch of another country a few minutes after sending. But it can be expensive and not always convenient - you have to go to the branch, and they are not open 24 hours a day. If you need to make an instant transfer from online to offline - WU is an excellent choice.

SWIFT transfers are aimed at rather large sums of money, when security is of primary importance - the cost and speed of the transfer are secondary here.

Prices for Polish taxis vary depending on several factors, including whether the trip occurs during the day or night, within the city, in the suburbs, or to a neighboring town, as well as whether the passenger has luggage, etc. There is a kind of division into three tariffs: the first, cheapest tariff - travel within the city; the second, more expensive, is applied when traveling outside the city; the third, most expensive, is for travel from one Polish city to another. The cost of the first tariff starts from 2 zlotys per kilometer (in corporations that have set the lowest price). There are companies that offer more expensive services here as well. When traveling outside the city limits, the so-called second tariff comes into effect, and the price of the trip increases by 50%. This tariff also applies on weekends and on days considered national or religious holidays. If it is necessary to travel to a neighboring city or municipality, the cost increases by another 50% (or twice the initial tariff). This is the third tariff, which is called "return," meaning the passenger effectively pays for the return of the empty car to the home city.

Taxi calling. Another great innovation is that in Poland, there is a single number for calling taxis, which is very easy to remember - 919. Additionally, you can use landline phones of various services. For example, in Warsaw, the following companies operate: Express Taxi - phone 196 63; Gold Taxi - phone 196 88; Super Taxi - phone 196 22; City Warsaw - phone 194 59.

There are numerous booking services for hostels in Poland, one of which we have specifically tested – booking.com. Other services are similar and differ only slightly, but we can recommend only the one we have tested ourselves. Be cautious when booking online – use only verified services. Otherwise, there is a risk of paying scammers and not receiving the ordered services.

Using the booking.com portal is quite simple – you just need to fill in all the fields of the request form and get the result. Let's imagine a short instruction on how to book a place in a hostel:

1. On the main page, select the hostel's address. To do this, enter the city in the "Place" field, and then a full list of available accommodations will be provided. You need to select a specific address or choose from all the offers in the city.
2. Specify the duration of your stay – the check-in and check-out dates.
3. The next section is "Are you traveling for work?" where you need to select "yes" or "no."
4. Select the number of people – separately for children and adults.
5. Click the "Check prices" button.
6. You will be provided with a full list of possible offers where you can book a room in a hostel. Pay attention that on the left, there will be a menu with a wide range of additional criteria "Select by criteria" – this will help narrow down the list of offers according to specific requests. First of all, you need to check the box in the "Hostels" section.
7. In the top menu, next to the language selection, there is a "Currency choice" item – you can set it in any currency or choose "Hotel currency."
8. When you click on a specific hostel offer, a page with detailed information will open. A little lower, the available rooms and their cost will be listed.
9. Select the appropriate one. To do this, in the row of the table with its description, in the "Select room" column, specify the room number (from the list provided).
10. After specifying the room, the "I'm booking" button will appear in the right column, which you should click.
11. Next, a potential resident's form will be offered for completion. The questions are standard, but it is important to remember that the full name must be filled in Latin letters, according to the spelling in the foreign passport.
12. Click the appropriate button and complete the booking.

For greater convenience, it is better to register on the booking.com website, linking your payment card to your profile. In this case, all payments will be made automatically, and checking in at a hostel in Poland will be easier.

Reviews about the work

Yulia2020-03-28 09:48:11

More about jobs in Kraków, Poland

Kraków is one of Poland’s largest economic, educational and cultural centres. Vacancies are available in manufacturing, logistics, construction, retail, hospitality, information technology and business services. Jobs in Kraków attract foreign workers because of the wide range of opportunities, developed infrastructure and potential for professional growth.

Key features of working in Kraków

Kraków is an important business and technology centre in Poland. The city is home to international companies and businesses operating in information technology, finance, customer service, manufacturing and logistics.

Qualified specialists can find vacancies as software developers, analysts, engineers, designers, managers, accountants and employees of international business-service centres. Candidates without specialised experience may find work in warehouses, manufacturing, construction, retail, cleaning and hospitality.

The number of temporary vacancies in hotels, restaurants, cafés, delivery services and other service companies increases during the tourist season. Some positions are suitable for students and candidates who want to combine employment with education.

Available vacancies and salaries

Kraków offers vacancies both for qualified specialists and for candidates without previous professional experience. Common employment sectors include:

  1. Information technology. Employers recruit software developers, testers, system administrators, analysts, digital-marketing specialists and technical-support employees. Practical skills, professional experience and language knowledge are important for these positions.
  2. Construction. Welders, plumbers, electricians, bricklayers, concrete workers, installers, finishing specialists and general labourers are regularly recruited. Qualified positions may require experience, licences or professional certificates.
  3. Transport and logistics. Employers hire drivers, couriers, freight forwarders, dispatchers, warehouse workers and forklift operators. Requirements depend on the vehicle category and specific position.
  4. Hospitality and cleaning services. Vacancies are available for cooks, kitchen assistants, waiters, bartenders, dishwashers, housekeepers and cleaners.
  5. Care and social services. Work involving children, elderly people or people requiring assistance may require professional training, medical documents and knowledge of Polish.

Vacancies are also available in warehouses, factories, production plants, greenhouses and agriculture in Kraków and the surrounding area. Common positions include packers, sorters, order pickers, equipment operators and production workers.

Salary levels depend on the position, qualifications, contract type, number of working hours, schedule, bonuses and additional payments. Before accepting a job, candidates should confirm whether the rate is stated before or after tax, how many hours are guaranteed and which expenses may be deducted from their salary.

Working and accommodation conditions

For official employment, candidates may find an employer independently or use an authorised employment intermediary. All essential conditions should be included in a written agreement between the employer and employee.

Before signing a contract, candidates should check:

  • the salary amount and payment procedure;
  • the work schedule and number of guaranteed hours;
  • payment conditions for night shifts, weekends and overtime;
  • the employee’s duties;
  • the cost of accommodation and transport;
  • possible salary deductions;
  • the contract duration and termination procedure.

Kraków is a popular tourist and student city, so accommodation costs depend on the district, season and type of property. Some employers provide a place in a dormitory, hostel or shared apartment. In other cases, employees must arrange housing independently.

Before accepting a vacancy, candidates should confirm the accommodation cost, utility charges, number of people sharing a room and distance to the workplace. Developed public transport makes it possible to consider housing outside the city centre or in nearby towns.

Food expenses depend on personal habits. Preparing meals independently is generally less expensive than regularly eating in cafés and restaurants.

Requirements for workers

For official employment, candidates must have a legal basis for staying and working in Poland. The required documents depend on their nationality, legal status, profession and contract type.

Depending on the situation, candidates may require:

  • a valid international passport;
  • a visa, residence card or another document confirming legal stay;
  • a work permit, employer declaration or another legal basis for employment;
  • a written employment or civil-law contract;
  • a medical examination and occupational health and safety training;
  • diplomas, certificates or professional licences for qualified positions.

Employers generally value responsibility, punctuality, attention to detail, readiness to work shifts and compliance with safety rules. Knowledge of Polish or English expands the range of available vacancies and improves professional development opportunities.
