Frequently Asked Questions

In terms of convenience, it is worth noting the systems that allow you to transfer money online, using Polish and crediting to a bank card. TransferGo allows you to make transfers for free, but at the cost of time. Paysend, on the other hand, offers instant transfers for a fixed fee. Both systems offer bonuses in the form of referral programs. In turn, TransferWise bets on multi-currency and is more suitable for freelancers whose counterparties are located in different countries of the world.

The giants Western Union and MoneyGram continue to bet on customers from the offline world who prefer to deal with cash. Speed wins here. You can receive money in a bank branch of another country a few minutes after sending. But it can be expensive and not always convenient - you have to go to the branch, and they are not open 24 hours a day. If you need to make an instant transfer from online to offline - WU is an excellent choice.

SWIFT transfers are aimed at rather large sums of money, when security is of primary importance - the cost and speed of the transfer are secondary here.

Prices for Polish taxis vary depending on several factors, including whether the trip occurs during the day or night, within the city, in the suburbs, or to a neighboring town, as well as whether the passenger has luggage, etc. There is a kind of division into three tariffs: the first, cheapest tariff - travel within the city; the second, more expensive, is applied when traveling outside the city; the third, most expensive, is for travel from one Polish city to another. The cost of the first tariff starts from 2 zlotys per kilometer (in corporations that have set the lowest price). There are companies that offer more expensive services here as well. When traveling outside the city limits, the so-called second tariff comes into effect, and the price of the trip increases by 50%. This tariff also applies on weekends and on days considered national or religious holidays. If it is necessary to travel to a neighboring city or municipality, the cost increases by another 50% (or twice the initial tariff). This is the third tariff, which is called "return," meaning the passenger effectively pays for the return of the empty car to the home city.

Taxi calling. Another great innovation is that in Poland, there is a single number for calling taxis, which is very easy to remember - 919. Additionally, you can use landline phones of various services. For example, in Warsaw, the following companies operate: Express Taxi - phone 196 63; Gold Taxi - phone 196 88; Super Taxi - phone 196 22; City Warsaw - phone 194 59.

There are numerous booking services for hostels in Poland, one of which we have specifically tested – booking.com. Other services are similar and differ only slightly, but we can recommend only the one we have tested ourselves. Be cautious when booking online – use only verified services. Otherwise, there is a risk of paying scammers and not receiving the ordered services.

Using the booking.com portal is quite simple – you just need to fill in all the fields of the request form and get the result. Let's imagine a short instruction on how to book a place in a hostel:

1. On the main page, select the hostel's address. To do this, enter the city in the "Place" field, and then a full list of available accommodations will be provided. You need to select a specific address or choose from all the offers in the city.
2. Specify the duration of your stay – the check-in and check-out dates.
3. The next section is "Are you traveling for work?" where you need to select "yes" or "no."
4. Select the number of people – separately for children and adults.
5. Click the "Check prices" button.
6. You will be provided with a full list of possible offers where you can book a room in a hostel. Pay attention that on the left, there will be a menu with a wide range of additional criteria "Select by criteria" – this will help narrow down the list of offers according to specific requests. First of all, you need to check the box in the "Hostels" section.
7. In the top menu, next to the language selection, there is a "Currency choice" item – you can set it in any currency or choose "Hotel currency."
8. When you click on a specific hostel offer, a page with detailed information will open. A little lower, the available rooms and their cost will be listed.
9. Select the appropriate one. To do this, in the row of the table with its description, in the "Select room" column, specify the room number (from the list provided).
10. After specifying the room, the "I'm booking" button will appear in the right column, which you should click.
11. Next, a potential resident's form will be offered for completion. The questions are standard, but it is important to remember that the full name must be filled in Latin letters, according to the spelling in the foreign passport.
12. Click the appropriate button and complete the booking.

For greater convenience, it is better to register on the booking.com website, linking your payment card to your profile. In this case, all payments will be made automatically, and checking in at a hostel in Poland will be easier.

Reviews about the work

More about jobs in Poland for couples

Jobs in Poland for couples provide a real opportunity to earn a higher income. Rising utility bills and the high cost of food and fuel make it difficult for many Ukrainians to maintain the desired standard of living. In search of better earnings, people often choose European countries. Poland is a popular destination because it is located close to Ukraine. The favourable exchange rate between the Polish zloty and the Ukrainian hryvnia is another important factor.

Couples often travel to Poland to work together. This allows them to increase their combined income while remaining close to one another. However, many families have children. Not every employer is prepared to hire young parents, as childcare responsibilities may affect the availability of one family member. Preparing documents for the entire family may also require more time. For this reason, couples often move to Poland together first and bring their child after they have settled in.

Available jobs for couples in Poland

Jobs for couples — vacanciesMen generally have access to a wider range of physically demanding and higher-paid positions. They may work in construction, loading, driving or electrical installation. Vacancies are also available for truck drivers, plumbers, cooks and bakers.

Women are commonly offered jobs in hotels, hostels, cleaning companies and private households. They may also work as caregivers, nannies, sorters, packers and factory employees.

Farm work is another common option for couples. Vacancies may be available on poultry farms or farms that raise horses, cows, bulls and other livestock. Jobs are also regularly offered by supermarkets and retail chains. Men may work in warehouses and loading positions, while women may arrange products in stores and help maintain cleanliness.

Knowledge of Polish can significantly improve employment opportunities for couples, as many jobs involve communication with customers or colleagues. Applicants who speak Polish may apply for positions such as waiter, bartender, administrator, shop assistant, cashier and other customer service roles.

According to various surveys of migrant workers, the majority of foreign employees are engaged in physical work. A smaller proportion work in customer service, information technology or management positions.

The proportion of men engaged in physical labour is generally higher. Women also frequently work in manufacturing, warehouses and agriculture, although they are more likely than men to choose customer service positions.

It should be noted: applicants with a higher level of education and stronger professional qualifications generally have better opportunities to find specialised or intellectual work.

Couples who search for jobs in Poland independently may avoid additional agency fees. However, they should carefully verify the employer, employment contract, salary, accommodation and legality of the employment arrangement.

Requirements for couples

Before applying for jobs in Poland, couples should review the requirements established by the employer:

  • age requirements depend on the vacancy and employer;
  • good physical condition may be required for physically demanding jobs;
  • previous experience may not be necessary, although it is an advantage for skilled positions;
  • some jobs require a sanitary certificate and a medical examination in Poland;
  • applicants must have the documents required for legal residence and employment.

Knowledge of Polish is an advantage, although it is not compulsory for many vacancies. Employees can gradually learn basic Polish after arriving and starting work.

Documents required for employment

For official employment in Poland, couples must provide documents confirming their right to stay and work in the country. The required documents depend on citizenship, residence status, employer and type of vacancy.

Visa-free entry does not always provide the right to work. For legal employment, the employer must prepare the required documents, while the employee must have a valid legal basis for staying and working in Poland.

A separate procedure applies to seasonal employment. Seasonal vacancies are commonly available in agriculture, horticulture, hotels and restaurants. After a longer period of legal residence and subject to the applicable conditions, a foreign worker may apply for a temporary or permanent residence permit.

Working hours and accommodation

When choosing a vacancy, applicants should consider whether accommodation is provided by the employer. If free accommodation is included, the salary or other employment conditions may differ from vacancies without housing. Couples are often offered a private room in a house, dormitory or apartment shared with other employees.

For most vacancies, payment is based on the number of hours worked. Hourly rates are common in factories, warehouses, farms and retail chains. Construction and skilled technical positions may offer higher rates.

The most common schedule is 8–12 hours a day, 5–6 days a week. The possibility of working on weekends and public holidays, as well as overtime rates, should be specified in the employment contract or the employer’s internal rules.

The final income of a couple depends on the hourly rate, the number of hours worked and expenses such as accommodation, food and transport. Since both partners are employed, their combined household income may be significantly higher than when only one partner works.

Benefits of working together as a couple

Jobs for couples — benefitsWorking in Poland as a couple offers several important advantages:

  • a higher combined household income;
  • the opportunity to remain close to your partner;
  • mutual support while adapting to another country;
  • the ability to handle everyday and organisational matters together.

The most important step is to select suitable vacancies for both partners, verify the accommodation and salary conditions, and officially prepare all required documents.
